Alarm state logger for the Autronica KM-2 system
On the ferry of one of Poland's leading carriers, a key safety element is the Autronica KM-2 system, which collects status information from all of the vessel's equipment. We extended it with an in-house alarm state logger

Problem
The vessel operates on a shift system, with crews rotating every two weeks. Such frequent turnover sometimes caused misunderstandings due to a lack of efficient information flow about faults. The owner decided to extend the system with alarm state logging, allowing the history of unusual events to be traced regardless of which crew was on duty
Solution
We built a circuit connected in parallel to the alarm module, collecting data on signals sent from equipment to the engine control room. The second part of the solution is an industrial computer with dedicated software, responsible for printing events and presenting them on a monitor. All data is additionally saved to memory cards
Result
The deployment noticeably improved working conditions on board and reduced the cost of fault diagnosis. The whole project was carried out without major modifications to the existing system, entirely between sailings. The owner subsequently commissioned us to extend the system to collect data from further automation systems
